How to Return Nintendo Switch to Target

There are two ways that you can return your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch products to Target: you can return in-person or online. Here is how to do both:

Return In-Person

The in-person process is the easiest way to return your Nintendo Switch. All you need to do is bring the unopened Nintendo Switch, the original receipt, and your photo ID to the guest kiosk, most often located at the front of the store.

There, a Target representative will help you return the product for a refund or exchange.

Nintendo Switch Return Online

Returning products online is a little bit more work. You’ll need to check out your purchases to locate your order.

Then, select to return the item. You will have to pay for return shipping. All the same, the rules described above apply to online purchases.

Refund Process

Getting a refund for your Nintendo Switch is pretty easy with Target. It works similarly to the GameStop refund policy.

You can get a refund on your original form of payment, including debit cards, credit cards, and Target red card. How long the refund takes depends on how you get your refund.

With Target red card, refunds take one to two days, whereas refunds issued to a third-party credit card take one to three days.

Returning items online takes the longest to get your refund. The item must be received and inspected before the refund will be processed.

What Falls Under the Return Policy

Target has a single electronic return policy that applies to all electronic products, including the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch games, and accessories.

So, the specifics of this return policy apply to Nintendo Switch games, accessories, and Switch itself. It also applies to other electronic products, though there are some exceptions to Apple products.

Items Needed to Complete Return

If you want to return any product to Target, you need two things in order to do so: the original receipt and your photo ID.

Make sure to keep the original receipt until you’re certain you do not want to return the Nintendo Switch as a result.

There is one exception. If you have a video game but do not have the receipt, you cannot return the video game, but you can exchange it for the same game that belongs to a different platform.

This exception applies to Nintendo Switch games, but not the Nintendo Switch itself.

Return Window

In order to qualify for Target’s return policy, you must return the Nintendo Switch within the approved return window.

The return window at Target is 30 days, meaning you have 30 days after the initial purchase to return the Nintendo Switch.

There are exceptions for the return window as well. Individuals who have a Target RedCard, for example, have an additional 30 days to return products, resulting in a 60 day return window.

During the holiday season, the 30 day refund window starts later. For any items purchased between November 1st and December 25th, the 30 day window does not start until January 26th.

Final Thoughts

If you purchased a Nintendo Switch from Target but have decided against it, you have 30 days to return the product.

The Nintendo Switch must be unopened, and you will need the original receipt and your photo ID in order to complete the refund. This policy applies to Nintendo Switch games and accessories as well.

The refund and return process is pretty easy. You can return the item online or in person, though the in-person option is the best.

You can choose between different refund options. Which option you select determines how long the refund will take.

If you aren’t sure whether or not your Nintendo Switch falls underneath the return policy, you can always visit Target’s guest services. They will be more than happy to help you determine if your Nintendo Switch can be returned.

The worst thing they can say is no. However, you will be able to return the Switch if it meets the stipulations above.
