In the case of a gift, you could get an exchange or store credit.
If 30 days have already passed, you still have until day 60 after your date of purchase to return your item(s). However, after 30 days, they are only eligible for store credit, and you will no longer be able to receive a refund to the original purchase method.

In some cases, yes, you can return items without a receipt. In order to make a return, you must have proof of purchase. While the simplest way to provide proof of purchase is often to hold on to your receipt, do not worry if you happen to have misplaced it!
If you are a Beauty Insider, a record of your purchase will be kept as part of your account, so all you will have to do is provide your Insider information when you go to make your return.
Otherwise, if you used a credit card to make your purchase, the Sephora employees may be able to use your card to look up your purchase information.

Can I return used or opened items?
Yes, you can! One of the nice things about Sephora’s return policy is that you can return items you are unsatisfied with for any reason. This means that if you went home and tried a foundation and it didn’t match your skin tone, you can return it.
Lipstick felt chalky on your lips? You can return that, too!
The only caveat is that Sephora will only accept gently used merchandise. If you have used half of that bottle of foundation or noticeably worn down that lipstick, you may not be allowed to make your return.
