Kohl’s is also known for having an excellent return policy, offering a generous 180-day return window for most items.
So, what is Kohl’s return policy after Christmas? Kohl’s return policy after Christmas has two main differences from its usual policy. First, premium electronics bought between November 1st – December 25th can be returned through January 31st instead of the usual 30-day policy. Second, Sephora items bought between November 1st through December 2nd can be returned through January 31st instead of the usual 60-day policy.

Kohl’s return policy after Christmas
Normally, Kohl’s requires premium electronics to be returned within 30 days of the purchase date with its retail packaging and with the original receipt.
Kohl’s extends this time window over the holidays. According to Kohl’s holiday extended return policy, “Premium electronics bought between November 1st – December 25th may be returned through January 31st with the account lookup or with original receipt in original packaging.”
Similarly, Sephora items are usually required to be returned within 60 days, in new or gently used condition. However, for the holidays, as noted on Kohl’s website, “Sephora items that are purchased November 1st through December 2nd may be returned in new condition through January 31st with a valid receipt or account/tender lookup.”
What about Sephora items bought between December 3rd – December 25th?
After December 2nd, the standard Kohl’s return policy for Sephora beauty products applies. This means you have up to 60 days to return new or gently used Sephora products to any Kohl’s location.
Are there other Christmas return features at Kohl’s?
Kohl’s offers a super-convenient, free service for returning gifts or items from Amazon. You don’t even need to package them.
You can simply take the eligible Amazon item to a participating Kohl’s and drop it off. They will box and label it for you and ship it back to an Amazon return center at no cost to you.
Kohl’s also offers an in-store self-return process that is easy and streamlined. In participating stores, instead of waiting in line, you can begin the process on your phone once you’ve entered the store.
Can I return a Christmas gift bought at Kohl’s? Do I have to have a receipt?
Yes, you can return a gift bought at Kohl’s. Kohl’s return policy lets you return any item bought at a Kohl’s store or online within 180 days of the original date of purchase, whether you have the receipt or not. It can even be worn or washed!
Here are the basics:
- Gifts returned with an accompanying gift receipt may be eligible for store credit or an exchange.
- Items purchased in-store must also be returned in-store. If you have the receipt or the buyer’s original purchase information you can get the value of the item refunded (to the buyer’s method of payment) or an even exchange.
- Items purchased online at Kohls.com can be either returned in-store or via the mail.
- Kohl’s is unable to process returns for the purchase of gift cards.
Do I have to have a receipt to return products bought at Kohl’s?
You don’t need a receipt to return an item purchased at a Kohl’s store. Customer Service may still be able to track the item’s purchase on their system.
If you used a credit card to make the purchase, they can look it up through the card. If you paid cash, they may still be able to locate the purchase by scanning item’s SKU.
If none of these methods work, you can still receive a merchandise credit. The merchandise credit will be based on the lowest discounted 13-week sale price for the item you’re returning. You may need to show a valid, government issued ID to process the return.

How do I return an item purchased at Kohl’s?
To return an item purchased at a Kohl’s store:
If the item was purchased at a Kohl’s store, it has to be returned in-store. It cannot be mailed in.
All you need to do is bring the item in with the original receipt. If you don’t have the receipt, bring a valid, government-issued ID and the credit card you used to make the original purchase. Go to Customer Service to begin the process for your refund or even exchange.
To return an item purchased at Kohls.com:
You can return an item that was purchased online at Kohls.com or the Kohl’s app by either going to a Kohl’s store or by mailing it back.
The quickest and easiest method is to bring the item into a Kohl’s store. When returning an online order via mail, you will only be refunded for the amount of the item.
You will have to pay shipping costs and any surcharges.
To return to a store: Simply print out the Order Invoice from your Kohls.com account and bring that in with your item. Go to Customer Service and they will begin the return process.
To mail the return:
- Print the Order Invoice from your Kohls.com account, or fill out the Return Form that was included with your item.
- Pack the item, including tags (item should be in new condition), along with the Return Form.
- Ship the package to the address listed on the Return Form. You are responsible for shipping charges.

How do I return a Kohl’s Certified Partner product?
Every item shipped from a Kohl’s Certified Partner has a return shipping label included. Simply repackage the product and tape the return label onto the package, then drop it off for shipping. You are responsible for any and all shipping charges.
