Does IKEA Sell Mattresses? (Types, Sizes, Quality + More)

Does IKEA Sell Mattresses

Do you know if IKEA sells mattresses? Well, you are at the perfect place to find the answer to such a question.

IKEA has an abundance of bedroom furniture to spruce up your bedroom remodel. Bed frames, nightstands, dressers, and much more. They have different aesthetics of furniture to match most of our unique styles. But, if you’re on a mission to upgrade your bed, you may be curious if you can replace your mattress at IKEA as well.

Yes, IKEA does sell a variety of different mattresses in an attempt to cater to different types of sleepers. Their mattresses are designed to provide high comfort at a low price.

In this article we will discuss the different types of mattresses IKEA carries, their price points, and determine if IKEA mattresses provide enough bang for your buck.

What Kind Of Mattresses Does IKEA Sell?

When discussing the categories of mattresses offered by IKEA we can separate the discussion into two main categories:

Let’s break each of these down a little further.

What Sizes Of Mattresses Are Available At IKEA?

IKEA carries the usual mattress suspects of twins, fulls, queens, and kings. However, they also carry a few different options for kid’s beds, including some crib mattresses.

Each of their different sizes is also available in two different materials to suit those who like a lighter or firmer mattress.

What Mattress Materials Are Available At IKEA?

IKEA has two different main categories of mattresses:

  • Spring mattresses, and
  • Foam and latex mattresses.

Spring mattresses are intended to help spread your weight evenly over the entire mattress and ensure your body feels supported. They are designed to make sure that no area of your body feels more pressure at night than another.

Spring mattresses do contain at least one layer of foam as well.

In comparison, the foam and latex mattresses are designed to provide support, conform to your body, and absorb shock from body movements during the night.

There are few different types of foam used in these including memory foam!

IKEA also carries a few hybrid mattresses if you’re looking for the best of both worlds between spring and foam.

What Are IKEA’s Highest Rated Mattresses?

Let’s discuss the highest rated foam and spring mattresses that IKEA carries.

First, their highest rated foam mattress is the MATRAND Memory foam mattress. This is a firmer mattress that conforms to the shape of your body in true memory foam fashion.

It is only for those who like the firmer mattresses that don’t have much fluff to them, and notably, the queen only costs $359.00. Compared to other memory foam queen mattresses this is quite a steal!

The next bestselling foam is another MATRAND memory foam mattress but in the king size. This bed does jump up to $499.00 but is still a great deal for a king-sized bed.

As for spring mattresses, the best seller is the HAUGESUND spring mattress in medium firm.

The HAUGESUND has individually wrapped springs surrounded by soft filling. It is designed to provide support and comfort while moving with your body.

This is a much softer variety than the foam mattress and it won’t conform to your body, so better for those that like a slightly more plush mattress. The queen bed is sold for only $289.00, coming in even cheaper than their highest rated foam mattress.

Next, their highest rated hybrid mattress is the HAUGSVÄR hybrid mattress. It is more firm than the HAUGESUND, but with slightly more give than the MATRAND.

It has individually wrapped pocket springs within the mattress and a layer of memory foam at the top of the mattress.

Are IKEA’s Mattresses High Quality?

IKEA’s selling point for mattresses is their price, there’s no getting around that. But, in this case, their low price doesn’t exactly mean the highest quality mattress out there.

They are great for those looking for a more temporary solution, or for childrens beds. They also have a generous warranty attached to all of their beds.

But, all in all, these aren’t the best mattresses out there, even when compared to other online mattress retailers.

There aren’t any mattress options for those who enjoy a plush, pillowy mattress. IKEA mattresses are also known to break down quickly and sag after frequent use.

But, if you aren’t in a place financially to invest in an expensive mattress, then the IKEA mattress may be a great option.

Their foam mattresses are also a great way to break into the world of memory foam sleeping without the higher price point.

Final Thoughts

As long as you don’t have an over-inflated idea of what you’ll be getting in an IKEA mattress you will likely enjoy their offerings.

While their foam mattresses seem to rank a little higher in comfort, their spring mattresses certainly deserve a chance as well.

While we can’t say that IKEA mattresses will last you the rest of your life, they would make a great guest bed, vacation rental bed, dorm room bed, or children’s bed.

Additionally, they are a great choice for anyone who doesn’t have the savings to splurge on an expensive mattress and will do the job.

Again, their greatest selling point is the low prices of their mattresses, and with a warranty and trial period included in each mattress purchase, it really wouldn’t hurt to give an IKEA mattress a try.
