Does Costco Make Kirkland Signature Products?

Costco’s private label, Kirkland Signature, was introduced in 1992. Though the products are specifically designed and packaged for the wholesale giant, Costco doesn’t make the products.

Third-party companies contracted by Costco manufacture and package consumer products under the Kirkland Signature brand name.

Some products are produced entirely by a third party. Some are sourced locally and then packaged through another third party.

Still, others are made through a collaborative effort between Costco and the third party.

It keeps deposits from building up inside the engine, as well as prevents the development of sludge.

Kirkland motor oil protects your car’s engine from unnecessary wear and tear. It also helps the engine make better use of the fuel you put in it.

You’ll get the most out of gasoline by using Kirkland Signature motor oil.

How Much Does Kirkland Motor Oil Cost?

The 4-pack of 5-quart bottles of Kirkland motor oil is priced at about $60. You can buy the 12-pack of 1-quart bottles for about $37. That means one quart runs right around $3.

Benefits of Using Kirkland Motor Oil

Kirkland motor oil offers several benefits for your car’s engine.

  • Prevents LSPI – LSPI stands for low-speed pre-ignition. This occurs in turbocharged, direct-injected engines and can cause damage. The fuel and air mixture combusts before it’s supposed to and causes a build-up of pressure inside the cylinders. Kirkland motor oil is designed to prevent this.
  • Friction control – Engine friction causes a lot of wear and tear. Kirkland Signature motor oil significantly reduces engine friction down to a point much lower than the API SP requirement.
  • Temperature protection – High-temperature shearing reduces the efficiency of the engine’s motor oil. Kirkland motor oil protects your car’s engine against this. It extends the life of the oil, so you don’t have to drain it as much.
