NAPA doesn’t actually have a breakdown of their warranty process and some of them have marine batteries available on their website that have opposing warranty information.
For instance, if you go to this page, you will see the NAPA Marine Starting Battery.
The claim at the top of the page states that there is a 12-month free replacement warranty on this battery. However, if you scroll down to the first small print paragraph, it states that “Each NAPA Marine Starting Battery is made in the U.S., and backed by a 3-Month Free Replacement Warranty.”
It can’t be both ways, so the only logical way to approach it is to go with what the battery is labeled as at the top of the page.
In this case, the battery is a NAPA Marine Starting Battery 12 Months Free Replacement BCI No. 24.

Deep cycle batteries differ from starting batteries in that they provide a constant and steady current over long periods of time.
Starting batteries alone are designed for large outbursts of energy in short time frames.

NAPA’s gel batteries are designed for both commercial and private use and are primarily used as either starting or deep cycle batteries.
Gel batteries have a few advantages, such as leak-free, ant-spillage properties and they tend to last longer than traditional batteries.

NAPA Battery Replacement Claims
This is one of those instances, where the only option to claim a free replacement, is to take your marine battery to your local store. You can’t mail NAPA a battery and you can’t start the process online.
So long as you are inside of the free replacement window and whatever is wrong with the battery is not due to damage caused by you, negligence, or any other misuse, then NAPA will replace it for free.
NAPA will also pro-rate batteries, which is essentially determined by how long past the service expiration date you have gone before you bring the battery in.
If nothing else, it will make your next battery purchase a little cheaper.

Since NAPA applies the warranty differently with different batteries, it’s safe to check this list before you make a purchase, as you will have to look up the individual batteries with NAPA to determine how many months you get where a free replacement is valid.
