NAPA’s Return policy applies to most of their products, including:

  • New, unused items in the original packaging
  • Used core
  • Items received damaged or defective
  • Items received in error

Even though these four items don’t mention batteries specifically, they tell you all you need to know about returning the batteries.

Based on these stipulations, you can return batteries that are new, unused, and in the original packaging. You can also return the battery if you opened it and it was received damaged or defective.

In contrast, there are some situations where you cannot return the battery. If you open the battery, put it in your vehicle, drive your vehicle, and then change your mind, you cannot return the battery.

The battery must be in the same condition you bought it in order for it to be a valid return.

Time Frame

No matter what item you are trying to return or why you have 30 days after the items were purchased to return the battery.

You can learn when the batteries were purchased by looking at your receipt. You have 30 days from that day of receipt to return the batteries.

Can I Return a NAPA Battery Without a Receipt?

What if you lost your battery receipt? Can you still return the battery to NAPA? Unfortunately, NAPA does not accept returns unless you have the original receipt, proof of purchase, or order confirmation. For this reason, it’s easiest to not lose your receipt after purchasing the battery.

How to Return a NAPA Battery

Returning a battery to NAPA is relatively easy. If you purchased it from a store, you could easily return it to that same store.

If you purchased the battery online, you could return it to a storefront location or ship it back.

Returning the battery in store is probably the easiest method. All you need to do is get the battery, the original packaging, and the receipt, and bring the items to the storefront location. A manager will inspect the battery and approve the return.

You also have the option to return items online. You will need to get a return goods authorization number from NAPA customer support.

Once you talk to customer support, they will give you the option to mail a UPS shipping label or e-mail one that you print off. Whichever option you prefer, you will be able to send the battery back for free.

Shipping the package back is relatively easy. You can take the package to any location that sees regular UPS pickups.
