Can I Return AirPods Purchased at Target?

If the AirPods are not underneath the store’s return policy, you cannot return them for refunds, unfortunately.

Target AirPods Return Policy

To make matters more confusing, Target’s return policy is different for Apple products than other electronics. If you have wireless headphones that do not belong to the Apple brand, you have 30 days from the purchase in order to return the product.

For Apple AirPods, as well as other Apple products, the return policy is different. Here are the specifics about returning AirPods to Target:

Return Condition

To return most any product at Target, it must be unopened and unused. This rule applies to Apple AirPods. Thus, your AirPods must be unopened in order to return them to Target.

Once they are opened, you cannot return the product any longer.

Return Window

The return policy for AirPods differs from other electronics in the return window. Whereas most electronics have a 30 day return window, all Apple products only have a 15 day window.

If you purchased your AirPods in-store, you have 15 days from the initial purchase to return the items.

If you ordered the AirPods through delivery service or online, you have 15 days from the time the product is picked up and shipped to return the product.

Holiday Return Window

That being said, the return window gets even more tricky when you look at the holiday season. All electronics, including Apple products, that are purchased between October 1st and December 25th have an extended return window.

This return window does not begin until December 26th.

So, you will have 15 days from December 26th to return your Apple AirPods if they were purchased within the holiday window.

Required Items

In order to return your Apple AirPods, you will need some items for the return process. You will need your valid photo ID and the original receipt.

If you have lost your receipt, stores may be able to look up the purchase through your payment if you have proof of purchase, such as a bank statement.

How to Return AirPods to Target

If you want to return your Apple AirPods to Target, the process is pretty easy. First, double-check to make sure you are in the return window.

Once again, that is a 15 day window during which the return is valid. After you’ve approved that you are still within the window, gather the original receipt and head to your closest Target location.

Once you get to your Target, go to the guest center kiosk. This kiosk is located at the front of most Target locations. Talk to a representative who will walk you through the return and refund process.

What If I Purchased Them Online?

If you purchased your AirPods through Target.com, you can still return them through an in-store guest kiosk. Another option is to apply for a return via mail services.

In order to do this, you will need to select a refund on your Target.com purchases and print out a mail sticker.

When you select this option, you will have to pay for shipping. Also, your refund will take longer because the AirPods first need to arrive at the Target facility and be inspected.

Only after this inspection period is over can Target approve the return for a refund.

Refund Process

If your Apple AirPods are approved for a refund, the refund is not instantaneous. It typically takes between 1 and 3 business days in order for the refund to hit your account. Occasionally, it may take as long as 5 business days.

The good news is that you can get your item exchanged for a different product if you prefer, or you can get it refunded.

You can get the product refunded through gift cards or deposit the money through the account you used to purchase the AirPods.

If it has been longer than five days since the refund was approved and you still have not received the refund, talk to Target to make sure that the refund was processed.

Note that Target does not have to refund your item if it does not meet the requirements of the refund policy.

For example, Target will not refund the product if it is outside the return window. Target will also not accept your AirPods if they have been opened.

Final Thoughts

If you purchased AirPods through Target, you only have 15 days to return the products unopened and unused.

If it’s been longer than 15 days or you have opened the packaging, you cannot return your Apple AirPods, unfortunately.

This policy applies to all Apple products, though the return policy is different for other electronics. Other electronics not belonging to the Apple brand have a return window of 30 days instead of 15 days.

As long as your Apple AirPods meet the requirements for return, you can return your AirPods in-store or through the mail service.

You will get a full refund, and the process is fast, safe, and convenient. Talk to representatives at your local Target if you have any more questions.
