Target Customer Service Desk Hours (All You Need To Know)

Target Customer Service Desk Hours

Do you know what time does Target service desk close? Well, you are at the perfect place to find the answer to such a question.

Target has everything. From house wares and appliances to clothing and food, you can find what you need. But, sometimes, we have to visit the service desk to initiate things like returns and exchanges, among other things. So, knowing their hours of operation is essential.

Well, what time does the Target service desk close? The truth is that it will depend on your area. But, generally speaking, it will close anywhere between 9:30 pm and 11 pm, with an average closing time of 10 pm. Basically, they close whenever time your particular location shuts its doors for the day.

So, if you want to make returns or exchanges, you should plan to be there about 30 minutes to an hour before closing time.

While you can make returns and exchanges online, there are other things the service desk offers that you can’t find through their website.

What Assistance Does Target’s Guest Service Desk Have?

Per an email conversation with Lexie of Target’s Guest Relations Department, returns and exchanges are the star of the guest service desk.

But, they also help with price matching, pricing discrepancies, incident reports, lost/stolen property, and other similar customer service issues.

What Is Target’s Return & Exchange Policy?

Generally, you can return unopened items that are still in new condition to Target within 90 days of your purchase for a full refund. Target reserves the right to reject a refund or an exchange if your items are open, damaged, or don’t’ have a receipt.

In some cases, your receipt will show a modified return policy for certain items. For instance, you have a whole year to return Target brand items as long as you have the receipt.

Also, RedCard credit and debit can return items purchased with the card for up 120 days.

Exceptions for Returns & Exchanges

Even if you do have a receipt, some things Target will not accept for return or exchange:

  • Collectibles that are defective or open: This includes things like special edition Barbie dolls, sports cards, porcelain dolls, die-cast cars, and action figures.
  • Digital Downloads: There is no real way to return something sent to you via email. Ergo, Target will not return or exchange these items.
  • Personalized Gifts: In the case, you get letters, names, or other words engraved or printed on jewelry, containers, glassware, dining items and etc, Target will not accept them for a return.
  • Unsealed or Open Breast Pumps: Because of the health concerns raised after opening or unsealing a breast pump, Target will not allow these for a refund.

If you opened something like music, video games, software, or movies, you can exchange such items for a new one. This also goes for airbeds. However, other electronics and entertainment items will have a shorter time frame than the standard 90 days.

As an example, you must return any Apple products and mobile phones purchased at Target within 15 days.

In-Store Returns

Whether you purchased items online or at a store, you can return anything you bought at the service desk at your local Target.

Simply bring along the items you no longer want along with the return barcode. This can be in the form of a receipt, order details from your account page, or the packing slip.

In the event you don’t have a receipt, they can look up your purchase using your original payment method.

Also, note that Target will not accept an in-store return for an online purchase made in another country. You must make the return from that country.

Mailing Returns

Target offers free shipping on returns by mail for online orders. You just go to your order details; indicate the items you want to return and then print the prepaid return mailing label.

This area also allows you to stay up to date with the status of your return.

What Are the Various Ways You Can Get Customer Service Help from Target?

In the event the guest service desk can’t help you with your issue, you can always contact the corporate Guest Relations Department.

You can contact them via phone (800-440-0680) or email ([email protected]). However, there is also the option of contacting them via Live Chat.

But, there is a caveat with this and it will be up to your discretion whether to use the Live Chat or not. For the research of this writing, a Live Chat conversation left much to desire. Basically, a person named Mo replied to the conversation, offering help.

Subsequently, we asked two questions:

  1. What time does your service desk close every day?
  2. What kinds of services, other than returns and exchanges, are available at the service desk?

A Strange Encounter

Unfortunately, Mo didn’t want to answer this in lieu of personal information for, as they called it, “documentation purposes.”

After convincing Mo that it was a strange request in regard to questions about their in-store customer service desk, they were rather unhelpful and refused to be.

In frustration, we perused the website to find an email address but to no avail. Then, upon an independent search, we found a Guest Services Department email.

This is where Lexie comes into the picture. She was very kind, apologized for my “less than stellar” chat experience, and proceeded to provide the information without question or sketchy requests for personal information.

A Genuine Forewarning

While there wasn’t any real security breach, the Live Chat rep’s request for personal information is highly suspect.

What compounded this was their refusal to answer basic questions regarding the service desk. So, dear reader, use Live Chat if your inquiries are simple.

Otherwise, send them an email, phone call, or go to the service desk at a physical store.

Conclusion

Target’s guest service desk closes when the store does. Depending on your location, this could be anytime between 9:30 pm and 11 pm.

So, it’s advisable to show up at least 30 minutes to an hour before closing to ensure you can take of things in a timely and efficient manner.
