Staples Return Policy With No Receipt

If you are looking to return an item and you do not have a receipt, there are several avenues for completing your return. To ensure the smoothest process, please attempt to process the return at the Staples location at which you made the purchase.

If you used a credit or debit card to make the purchase, they may be able to look up the receipt using your card information.

If it was an online order, you should be able to find it in the My Orders section on your Staples account and reprint the receipt yourself before going to a location to process it.

If you do not have the receipt and a Staples Employee is unable to locate the transaction record, your return is eligible for in-store credit only, in accordance with Staples’ return policy. This policy states that the in-store credit will be for the lowest selling price of the item within the last 30 days in the US.

Staples will need to see your state-issued ID/driver’s license or other acceptable photo ID in order to process the return.

If you are unable to present the required documents, Staples will likely be unable to process your return.

Staples reserves the right to deny any return, with or without a receipt, based on the judgment of the individual location.

Staples Return Policy for Used Items

Per the Staples Return Policy, items must be in “salable condition” in order to be accepted for a full refund. Items that are damaged or missing pieces, parts, or other items from a bundle deal will have the value of the missing bit removed from the return amount.

Staples maintains the right to refuse a return on items that are damaged to a certain degree, at the discretion of the individual location. If the cost of the repair gets too high, it would not be feasible to process the return.

Staples Stores no longer accept returns on open headsets, headphones, or ear buds. For more information, you can learn more at your local Staples location to determine items that are acceptable.

Staples Return Policy for Opened Box & Packaging

Staples does occasionally have Open Box products for sale, which are opened and slightly used items that can not be sold at full price. This can be due to wear and tear, physical damage, or missing pieces or parts.

Open Box items may be sold at slightly discounted prices, due to the aforementioned condition of the product.

Some open box items may be missing components, such as cords or cables. It should be noted on the box if anything is missing or if there is existing damage to the product.

Keep in mind that if you purchase Open Box products, the item may have less value or quality than a brand new product.

Return Policy for Refurbished Items

Some Open Box items that may be sold are referred to as ‘Refurbished’. These items have been repaired from physical damage, but usually cannot be sold at full price.

Refurbished items may be sold with the option of a Warranty covering the repair, but this is up to the discretion of the individual Staples location.

Common refurbished items may have replaced screens, replaced or slightly damaged casings, or replaced parts. As with Open Box items, when purchasing refurbished items, you should be aware that it may not have the same quality as a brand new product. With that in mind, you are purchasing Open Box or refurbished items at your own discretion.

Staples Return Policy for Online Returns

For items ordered online, you can process returns from the Staples website. You can either sign in to the Staples account you used to make the purchase or search for the order using the order number. Once the order has been located, you can click the “return” button and follow the prompts.

You will have two options for returning the item/s. One option is to print off a shipping label from the Staples website, affixing it to a box with your item in it, and send it out with the mail.

The other option is for Staples to send a local courier to come to your house and pick up the item/s being returned.

During the return process, you will be able to select your preferred method of return. Once all of the steps have been completed, Staples will be able to fully process your return.

If you have any difficulties during the return process, you can contact Staples support.

Miscellaneous

Staples has some additional rules when it comes to their returns and related policies. Any product that’s returned without a promotional item(s) that was included in the original transaction (e.g., buy a printer, get free ink), will have the value of the promotional item deducted from the amount refunded.

Any return of a product that included a promotional gift card in the original transaction (e.g., buy a printer, get free gift card), will have the value of the promotional gift card deducted from the amount refunded as gift cards cannot be returned.

More information about many of these specific guidelines can be located on the Staples website. Additionally, you can contact Staples support or visit your local store to learn more information.

However, acquiring information about the returns process for your specific item will save time and headaches when attempting to do returns in the store.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, there is no avenue for returns past the fourteen-day mark, outside of the special holiday policy.

As long as the item is within the policy time frame and in good condition, the return should be processed without any issues. However, an amount may be subtracted from the refund depending on the condition of the item/s.

If you have any questions that were not covered in this guide, you can find additional details about this and other policies on the Staples website or in-store when talking with an associate.
