NAPA AGM Battery Warranty (What’s Covered, Time Frames + More)

NAPA agm battery warranty

Do you know what NAPA AGM battery warranty is? Well, you are at the perfect place to find the answer to such a question.

Most of NAPA’s car batteries come with warranties including the NAPA Legend AGM battery which is one of NAPA’s top of the line car battery models.

So, how good is the warranty? The NAPA AGM battery warranty covers the replacement of a car battery the same as or similar to the original battery purchase in the event of a manufacturer’s defect.

In this article, we will review what is covered under the warranty and how to file a warranty claim. Additionally, we will cover the time frame for NAPA’s AGM battery warranty and if you can replace it with a different battery.

What Is Covered Under NAPA’s AGM Battery Warranty?

If you purchase a Legend AGM car battery from NAPA, you will also get a warranty that guarantees the battery’s coverage should it prove defective. The warranty allows you to replace the battery for free if there are material or workmanship defects that are the fault of the manufacturer.

You cannot claim your free battery replacement if the battery is discharged for any reason, physically broken due to use or mishandling, damaged by collisions or fire, frozen, or poorly maintained.

As the consumer, you assume responsibility for the car battery once you have purchased it so any reason for replacement must lie at the fault of the manufacturer.

Only the battery itself is covered under the warranty. NAPA will not reimburse or provide free installation costs or reimbursement for damages due to faulty batteries.

NAPA also will not provide compensation for time lost due to defective batteries and their subsequent replacement.

How Do I File a Warranty Claim with NAPA for My AGM Battery?

If your NAPA Legend AGM battery is faulty, take the battery back to the store from which you purchased it. Make sure to have your receipt with you, otherwise, a NAPA associate will not be able to honor the warranty.

The receipt not only provides proof of purchase but also the date of purchase which indicates proof of the validity of the warranty period.

Explain to the NAPA associate what issues you have been having with the battery so that they can have a better idea of how to test it to make sure that it falls within the bounds of the warranty for replacement.

Once they confirm that your claim is valid, select the battery you want as your replacement.

If the store has one on hand, you should be able to walk out the door with it or have an attendant install it right away if they are not too busy.

If it is out of stock, a NAPA associate will order it and notify you when it comes in so you can come to pick it up.

How Long Does NAPA’s AGM Battery Warranty Last?

The NAPA Legend AGM car battery has the longest lasting warranty of any of the batteries that NAPA sells. The warranty will cover the manufacturer’s defects for three years after the date of purchase.

As long as you bring in your receipt as proof of purchase date, you can replace your NAPA Legend AGM car battery up to thirty-six months after purchase.

If you do need to replace your battery, the warranty on the replacement battery remains in effect from your original purchase – it does not restart with the replacement.

For example, if you purchase your Legend AGM battery on January 1, 2022, then the warranty expires on January 1, 2025. However, if you need your battery replaced on July 1, 2024, the warranty will still expire in six months.

Compared to other battery warranties which last from three months to two years, only AAA batteries offer a three year warranty.

Can I Replace My NAPA AGM Battery With a Different Battery?

If you need to claim your free battery under the NAPA AGM battery warranty, you do not have to choose another car battery of the same make and model.

The battery does need to be similar to the capacity and size of the Legend AGM battery, however.

If there is a difference in price that makes the replacement battery more expensive than the one that was originally purchased, NAPA will cover the costs.

You will not be charged for any battery replacement as long as the battery in question follows the rules of the warranty.

Even if you choose a different battery as your replacement, only the battery itself will be covered under the warranty’s terms of free replacement.

You will not be given a reimbursement for the difference in cost of choosing a cheaper battery either as a check, store credit, or service provided.
