Walmart Marine Battery Return Policy (Full Guide)

Walmart Marine Battery Return Policy

Do you know what Walmart‘s marine battery return policy is? this is one of the questions our readers ask a lot. Well, we´ve got you covered.

If you haven’t visited the automotive section of Walmart lately, you may not even know the different batteries they sell! Walmart carries a selection of marine batteries in their automotive section that can be a great deal. But what happens if you need to return them?

Walmart accepts automotive battery returns, which includes marine batteries, within 90 days from the date of purchase. This is offered if the battery test is within 90 days, not just if you change your mind about the battery.

In this article, we will discuss Walmart‘s standard return policy, how the policy applies to their marine batteries, and present any additional warranties offered by Walmart

How Does Walmart’s Standard Return Policy Work?

Generally, most items purchased from Walmart can be returned within 90 days with or without a receipt. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. Some items can only be returned with a receipt, others have a shorter time frame, and some can only be exchanged for a like item.

Returns can be made in the store or online, although it is always best to make your return using the same method you used to purchase.

Refunds are always made to the original form of payment. This means if you paid with your debit card you will receive the refund there, but if you paid in cash you will get an automatic cash refund.

Refunds sent to a debit or credit card may take a few days to clear your bank, which means you will not have access to the money immediately.

This is just something to keep in mind when making a return and planning to purchase another item.

How Does Walmart’s Return Policy Apply To Marine Batteries?

Walmart allows automotive batteries to be returned within 90 days, just like their standard policy. They allow a full refund or an exchange. This is permitted only if the battery tests are within 90 days from the date of purchase.

In order to determine if the battery tests bad, when you bring the battery to your Walmart store they will have to run a test on it to determine its functionality. This will determine if the battery needs to be charged, if it is defective, or if it works fine.

If there isn’t an issue with the battery it is possible that the return won’t be honored, however, this isn’t always the case.

If you’ve purchased the wrong battery for your vehicle, haven’t used the battery, or have another extenuating circumstance that is requiring you to return the unused battery, then Walmart will likely work with you to find a solution.

Walmart only accepts battery returns in stores, you can’t send your battery in through the mail. This is so they can perform a battery test to check its functionality. Your battery also must be in its original packaging in order to be accepted.

Do I Need A Receipt?

If you have your government-issued ID then Walmart will most likely accept your return, as long as the purchase details match their database.

It will be helpful if you purchased your battery using a  credit or debit card as well, as cash transactions are more difficult to verify.

It is also important to note that without a receipt Walmart will likely only provide the refund in the form of a Walmart gift card. So, if you want your money back into your account or in cash, it is important to hold onto your receipt until the return period expires.

What Happens If I Miss The 90 Day Cutoff?

So, what if your battery is functioning fine up until day 100? What options do you have? Luckily, many automotive batteries come with warranties, and the ones through Walmart are no different.

If you miss the 90 day cut off for the full refund or exchange, you will have to refer to the terms in your warranty to see how you can exchange your battery now. Generally, the terms will cover some cost of the battery replacement, and see the customer paying the rest.

However, in some instances, you may be offered a full replacement from your warranty.

The basic warranties offered for Walmart marine batteries include:

  • EverStart Value,
  • EverStart Plus, and
  • EverStart Maxx.

These offer battery replacements between one to three years from the date of purchase. However, you should check your specific warranty details for the most accurate information.

What Are The Exceptions To The Return Policy?

Wireless phones, electronics, wireless phones, electric scooters, hoverboards, prescription glasses, trees, perennials, shrubs, and unopened tobacco/alcohol are required to be returned WITH a receipt. They also have different acceptable time frames.

Electronics must be returned within 30 days, glasses within 60, and plantlife within one year!

Tires that haven’t been mounted can be returned within 90 days to a Walmart that has an Auto Center.

The following items aren’t eligible for a receipt and can only be exchanged:

  • Unlocked, opened wireless phones,
  • Drones,
  • Air mattresses, and
  • Medical equipment.

Again, some of these items have a shorter return window, including the phones which must be returned within 14 days, and the drones which must be returned within 30 days.

However, as you may have noticed, Walmart’s policy has not yet mentioned any exceptions regarding their automotive batteries.

Final Thoughts

Walmart will accept returns of their marine batteries within 90 days from the date of purchase. Returns must be made with a receipt in order to be fully refundable.

Walmart offers full refunds for batteries that have malfunctioned, were purchased in the wrong size or were unusable for some other reason.

If you miss the cutoff for your battery return you may not be totally out of luck! Most marine batteries will come with a warranty of either one year, two years, or three years. Your battery can be exchanged under the terms of your warranty after Walmart’s return period expires.

Between the return policy and the warranty, Walmart has taken steps to ensure that no one is stuck with a battery that is unusable.
