Home Good’s standard return policy In store states that you have 30 days from the date of purchase to return any unwanted items. If you purchased your item with a check, you will have to wait an additional 10 days post-return to get your refund back in cash.

HomeGoods Return Policy After 30 Days
HomeGoods will accept returns after the 30-day period, however, you will have to have a receipt or some form of proof that you made the purchase, such as online order confirmation, to prove that you purchased the item from HomeGoods.
If you have your receipt, HomeGoods will allow you to make the return but you will only receive a refund in the form of equal value exchange. That means you will be allowed to go through the store and find something that is exactly the same price.
There are terms and conditions to consider as well and your return might be bound by them, depending on what the item or product is. As with most things, when it comes to retail chains, HomeGoods reserves the right to refuse a return for any reason.
They probably won’t but the odds of it happening increase if you return an item back to the store outside of the 30-day limit.
This is especially true if you no longer have the receipt or proof of purchase. In fact, HomeGoods is under no compulsion to accept a return that doesn’t have a receipt or valid proof of purchase.

Of course, as with everything else in life, there are always exceptions to the rules. If the item that you return is used, bad, or in a condition that HomeGoods recognizes as unsellable, they can and probably will refuse the return altogether.
HomeGoods also uses a fraud prevention system. They attempt to verify all products that are being returned and, unfortunately, that means that some people—those who are not perpetuating fraud—may get caught up in it and have their return refused.
For any returns without a receipt, even inside of the 30-day window, you will have to provide HomeGoods with ID verification. It must be a state or federally issued ID, such as a state-issued ID card, driver’s license, or passport.
The name that HomeGoods has on their verification system must be the same name that you provide on your ID, or the return will be refused.

How to Return an Item to HomeGoods
In-store returns at HomeGoods are not difficult to do, so long as you have the item, the original packaging, and a receipt or proof of purchase.
Although it’s not absolutely required, it’s always best to repackage the unwanted item in the original packaging.
If you are making an in-store return with an item that you purchased from HomeGoods online, you will have to provide them with your signature for the exchange.
If you paid with a debit or credit card, regardless of whether or not the payment was made online or at the store, you will get your refund to that same debit or credit card.
The item that you are returning cannot be an item that was marked as a “final sale” item and it cannot be a gift card. No retail chains allow for the return of gift cards anyway, so that’s nothing that’s out of the ordinary.
The items have to be undamaged and in their original packaging, however, HomeGoods will probably let the latter slide assuming you are pretty good at being sociable, polite, and understanding.
The only items that you cannot return to HomeGoods once you have opened them are cosmetics. For obvious reasons, HomeGoods cannot accept returns on anything that is opened that is applied to your body for any reason.
How Does HomeGoods Process Refunds?
All check and cash purchases are refunded in cash and all purchases made with a credit or debit card are returned directly to the credit or debit card.
You only get store credit for items that are returned without a receipt or well outside of the 30-day return window, assuming that the return is accepted at all.
If you return an item with a gift receipt, HomeGoods will refund you but only in the form of store credit. The same is true of items that you purchase with a gift card or items that someone else purchases for you with a gift card.
If you made your purchase online, via PayPal, HomeGoods will refund your PayPal account directly, just like they would a credit or debit card purchase.

HomeGoods has a pretty standard return policy, whether you are making the return in-store or online.
Like most retail chains, you should ensure that you have the receipt for the product in question and try to return it in pristine condition and within the original packaging.
