Does Walmart Blow Up Balloons?

Walmart offers a balloon filling service at only a small number of its stores. Approximately 1 in 10 Walmart stores can offer this service, but with over 3,500 Supercenters in the USA, that’s still a lot of stores where you can get this done.

But it’s best not to just show up and hope for the best. A better option will be to call your local store and ask them if they offer a balloon filling service.

You can find your nearest Walmart store and get the number to call from the Walmart website.

Once you’ve found your local store you can click on the ‘Details’ icon to find the phone number to call.

If your local store does not provide a balloon inflating service, ask if they know the nearest store that does, or use the storefinder to explore other stores in your vicinity.

How Much Does Walmart Charge To Blow Up Balloons?

It costs about $0.25 per balloon to have a Walmart shop blow it up for you, but this will depend on the size and type of balloon you need to have inflated.

Obviously, the more balloons you need to be blown up, and the larger the balloons, the more helium is required and so the more it will cost you.

Does Walmart Blow Up Balloons Bought Elsewhere?

Officially, no. But you could call your local Walmart store and politely ask about this.

It’s not advisable to turn up at a Walmart store with balloons bought elsewhere without knowing if the Walmart staff will fill them.

There’s a chance that Walmart staff are likely to insist on filling only balloons bought at a Walmart store.

Other Options for Blowing Up Helium Balloons

If your local Walmart store does not blow up balloons you do have other options.

Walmart stores sell helium tanks which you can use to inflate balloons yourself. These tanks often come as a kit with balloons and ribbons and start from around $29.

The tanks are easy to use and you can blow up a lot of balloons quickly. Each tank can inflate up to 50 balloons, depending on the size of the balloons.

You can also buy helium tanks at Sam’s Club, which is owned by Walmart. However, Sam’s Club does not offer a balloon inflation service.

Non-Walmart options for filling balloons tend to be more expensive and include:

  • Kroger stores which charge around $1 for a latex balloon inflation, and between $2 and $8 for Mylar balloons, at their florist sections.
  • Meijer stores also charge $1 for latex balloons, whereas Mylar balloons cost between $3 and $8 each to be inflated.

The good thing about Kroger and Meijer stores is that they don’t insist that you buy the balloons from their stores.

If none of these options work for you, you’ll find that many of your local florists and party supply shops will be able to blow up balloons.

Conclusion

Only a relatively small number of Walmart stores will blow up balloons for you. So, always call and check if they offer this service before you visit your local store.

The Walmart stores that do offer this service charge around $0.25 per filled balloon.

If your local Walmart store doesn’t inflate balloons you can either buy a helium tank at the Walmart store and blow the balloons up yourself; this is quite easy and quick to do.

Alternatively, you can go to a Kroger or Meijer store where you can get balloons inflated, but these tend to be more expensive than Walmart – you don’t have to buy the balloons at these stores to get them inflated there.
