While it is a bit of a pain, there is a workaround you can use to be able to use your EBT to purchase from Instacart.

What you have to do is go to an ATM and withdraw cash from your EBT card. Then, use the cash to purchase a third-party gift card such as a Visa card, or an Instacart gift card.

You will then be able to use the gift card to pay for delivery from Target using Instacart.

In order to use EBT on Instacart, you must not only live in a state that is participating in the program, but also purchase from a participating retailer.

This process is just like using your EBT card at any other retailer. Keep in mind that unlike some stores such as Whole Foods, Target will not automatically separate the EBT-eligible and non-eligible items for you, so you should do this ahead of time before placing your items on the belt.

Once all of your EBT eligible items have been scanned, you will be able to use your EBT card just like any other debit or credit card.

You will swipe it at the pin pad and enter your four-digit pin code to complete the transaction.

Once again, keep in mind that if you have not properly separated all of your items, and if a non-eligible item gets scanned, then the transaction will fail.

This is why it is important to make sure you separate all of your items.
