Kirkland Protein Bars Review. Ever since their conception, Kirkland Signature Protein Bars have been making happy eaters out of Costco’s customer base.

Consumers have long lauded them as both a delicious snack and a source of healthy protein. But how healthy are these protein bars? And further, are they really a genuine source of protein?

So, are Kirkland protein bars healthy? Yes, as it turns out, Costco’s Kirkland Signature Protein Bars are fairly healthy and a good source of protein. With their signature chocolate chip cookie dough flavor, customers may wonder how healthy these protein bars really can be.

In this article, we’ll review and compare several flavors of this product and look closely at just how healthy they are, based on their makeup.

Kirkland Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Protein Bars

While Costco’s basic details regarding the chocolate chip cookie dough protein bars are that they are gluten free, 2.12 oz per bar, and free of artificial flavors, there is more to know in the fine print.

Ingredients and Nutrients

This flavor consists of healthy sources of protein including cashews.

Ingredients in this real-chocolate, kosher, and gluten free bar include 10 grams of fiber, 21 grams of protein, 2 grams of sugar, 10 grams of net carbs. It also contains some milk.

The combination of these natural ingredients results in a surprisingly healthy protein bar, given its main flavors are cookie dough and chocolate.

Kirkland Chocolate Brownie Protein Bars

This flavor sounds even less healthy than the previous one when you assume based on its name. However, you might not expect that these bars contain the same makeup of no artificial flavors or gluten.

Ingredients and Nutrients

Costco advertises that these bars have 100% protein isolate as the main source of protein. They have high fiber (10 grams) and only a minuscule amount of sugar (2 grams).

They also contain real chocolate, 21 grams of protein, 10 grams of net carbs, milk, and cashews. Basically, their makeup is the same as that of the chocolate chip cookie dough protein bars.

By our standards, that makes them just about as healthy as the cookie dough bars. 

Kirkland Chocolate and Peanut Butter Chunk Protein Bars

These bars actually contain just as much protein as the previous ones on this list, but one distinction is that they have more net carbs. Due to the peanut content, this flavor rings in at 11 net grams of carbohydrates.

Further, they’re made with real chocolate and peanut butter.

Again, it’s hard to argue with a protein bar that offers both a delicious sweet taste and a healthy amount of protein, sugar, and fiber. 

Good or Bad: How Healthy Are They?

When you look at what many of the flavors of these protein bars contain, it’s easy to see that they actually consist of some healthy nutrients.

As it turns out, they exceed expectations when you compare them to similar protein bars on the market.

Sugar Content

Combined with the lack of sugar compared to other market options (KIND bars contain 12 grams of sugar, Aloha bars contain 12 grams of sugar, Larabars contain 7 grams of sugar), Kirkland starts looking like a good alternative.

Another way that these protein bars are going to outsmart the “healthy label” of many other brands on the market is in their actual protein content.

Given that they’re marketed as protein bars, it seems essential that they actually deliver on that promise. With Kirkland’s bars, you’ll find that, again, they offer more than other brands do. 

In comparison, KIND bars contain only 6 grams of protein beside Kirkland’s 21 grams. Aloha bars contain only 18 grams of protein, and Larabars contain only 5 grams.
