Apple Battery Replacement Policy (Warranty – Secrets Nobody Is Talking About)

Apple battery Replacement Policy

Do you know what Apple Battery Replacement policy is? this is one of the questions our readers ask a lot. Well, we´ve got you covered.

All smartphone batteries degrade with use and time and your iPhone is no exception. With daily recharges and constant use, your phone’s battery gets weaker. However, this doesn’t mean your phone becomes useless.

So, what is Apple battery replacement policy? According to Apple battery replacement policy, Apple offer customer support and battery replacement services for old iPhone batteries. Apple has several nifty features to track your battery health.

Here is all you need to know about Apple’s Battery Replacement Policy and what you can do if you suspect your phone’s battery health has deteriorated.

Why replace an iPhone battery?

According to Apple, older iPhone models drain more power than newer ones which may cause the devices to shut down and show other issues. This generally happens while using highly demanding applications on your phone.

If you have an iPhone running on an older version of iOS (10.2.1 onwards), you may expect less than optimal performance of your phone and battery.

All smartphones, including iPhones, make use of lithium-ion batteries. The chemical composition of these batteries is such that they will degrade over time.

Apple says that an iPhone typically retains about 80% of its battery capacity over 500 full charge cycles.

So, what’s the solution when your iPhone’s battery health drops below this 80%? Get a fresh battery installed and your device will start performing at its full capacity again.

Apple’s Battery Warranty

Your new iPhone comes with a one-year warranty which covers the services for your battery during this period. Plus, it offers replacement options in the case of a defective battery.

How to check the health of your iPhone battery

For devices running on iOS 11.3 and models from iPhone 6 onwards, you can check your iPhone’s battery health in the following way:

  1. Go to the Settings app on your iPhone
  2. Tap on Battery and then select Battery Health

You will be able to see the maximum battery capacity your iPhone is getting right now. If your phone’s battery health has been severely compromised, you will also get a recommendation that it’s time for a replacement.

The ‘maximum battery capacity’ is a numerical estimate of how your device’s battery is performing now compared to when you first started using it.

With a lower capacity, you will get fewer hours of battery and usage.

Remember, this is normal as the battery chemical ages naturally. So, your phone’s battery capacity will be less than 100% after some time.

All models of the iPhone also show the overall performance of the battery and system. This lets you see if the device is operating properly, how it behaves in hot and cold environments, as well as the internal voltage.

This performance management feature is an essential part of your iPhone and cannot be shut off.

How much does an iPhone battery replacement cost?

If your iPhone is under warranty or you have signed up for AppleCare+, you can get a battery replacement free of charge.

If you’re unsure whether you’re covered, you can check your warranty status by entering the serial number of your iPhone on the Apple website.

Out-of-warranty charges for the battery replacement service depends on your iPhone model.

For iPhone 6 and onwards, battery replacement charges are $49 and for iPhone X onwards, the charges are $69.

Remember, these prices are only applicable for the battery services provided by Apple itself.

Is my iPhone eligible for a battery replacement?

All Apple models should be eligible for a battery replacement. However, if you have an iPhone 6 or later model, your iPhone is definitely eligible for the services offered.

Typically, Apple will only replace your iPhone’s battery if its maximum capacity has fallen below 80%. This is usually when your device starts to underperform due to the lower capacity.

Where can I get my iPhone battery replaced?

You can head over to your nearest Apple store or an Apple-authorized third-party service provider to get your iPhone battery replaced. It’s best to make an appointment before you go to the Apple store.

Alternatively, you can also mail your device to Apple if you can’t go to the store. In this case, Apple will mail you a box to put the iPhone in before you ship it to an Apple Repair Centre.

Apple says that you should get your iPhone back in around 3-5 business days.

How to maximize iPhone battery lifespan

According to Apple, the battery lifespan also depends on how you use your phone, your charging habits, as well as the passage of time.

You can extend the lifespan and maintain a higher maximum battery capacity for a longer period of time by following these tips:

  1. Keep your device updated with the latest software. This is important as the updates often roll out new energy-saving features.
  2. Keep your device at an ambient temperature, ideally within the range of 16° to 22°. It is important to avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, for instance, above 35° C. This can permanently damage your device’s battery.
  3. Some phone cases can also generate too much heat when the phone is charging. If your phone feels excessively warm while charging, take the case off first.
  4. If you’re storing your device, do not fully charge or completely discharge it. This puts a strain on the battery capacity. Keep the device around 50% charged when storing your device.

Importance of genuine Apple batteries and services

Apple has always stressed the importance of getting any repairs or services performed by the company’s certified technicians.

These procedures involve handling sensitive components that should only be done by technicians with a complete Apple Service Training. There are more than 1800 Apple authorized service providers in the US.

Never attempt to replace your iPhone’s battery by yourself. Also, try not to take your device to an untrained technician.

They may offer replacement and repair services at a lower price, but might not follow the required safety procedures.

This can result in further battery damage, improper repair, and permanent issues in your device.
