Who Makes Great Value Paper Towels For Walmart? (Facts, Price, Bounty)

Who Makes Great Value Paper Towels

Have you ever asked yourself or your friend who makes Great Value paper towels for Walmart? Well, you are at the perfect place to find the answer to such a question.

Great Value paper towels are affordable. You can purchase them in two varieties–Everyday Strong or Ultra Strong.

So, who makes Great Value paper towels? Procter & Gamble manufactures Great Value paper towels. Walmart has established contracts with the household name company to make several products. Though Procter & Gamble makes the bargain-priced paper towels at the same facilities as other premium brands, they’re not the same quality but a bit cheaper.

Keep reading to find out how these paper towels stack up against competitors and if you should give them a try.

Why Does Procter & Gamble Make Great Value Paper Towels?

Walmart doesn’t manufacture any of the products sold under its Great Value signature brand. If it did, the prices for those items would likely be much higher.

When Walmart launched Great Value, the idea was to offer lower-income families, that couldn’t afford some of the brand-name products in the store, an alternative option for less money.

Walmart still wanted a decent quality level, though.

Rather than build manufacturing facilities to produce all the items it wanted to sell under Great Value, Walmart reached out to other companies that already had those facilities.

The companies would strike a deal over producing versions of products they already made to be distributed by Walmart under the Great Value label.

Procter and Gamble make Great Value paper towels because it’s an effective way to manufacture them at a low cost.

That allows Walmart to sell them for a lower price.

Are Great Value Paper Towels Good?

Great Value paper towels don’t crumble and leave lint behind the way some other brands of paper towels do. That makes them one of the best brands for cleaning glass or other glossy surfaces.

The paper towels aren’t soft and fluffy like some other brands. They feel rougher than the more premium paper towels.

They’re thinner than some of the name-brand paper towels, too. They’re not as effective at cleaning up heavy wet messes. They’re not as absorbent as thicker brands.

They do hold up well for scrubbing at smaller messes, though. They also come in the split sheet option, so you don’t have to use a whole paper towel to clean up small messes.

What Brand-Name Paper Towels Does Procter & Gamble Make?

Procter and Gamble make Bounty paper towels. Bounty is often thought of as the premium-level paper towel roll.

The towels are thick and fluffy. They’re also soft and absorbent. Bounty is good at soaking up large wet messes.

Great Value Paper Towels vs Bounty?

No, Great Value paper towels are lower quality than Bounty. They’re not nearly as thick or as soft. However, Bounty is much more expensive than Walmart‘s signature brand paper towels.

When we compare the prices on Walmart‘s website, here’s what we see.

A 12-pack of Great Value double rolls of paper towels sells for $14.97. The same size pack of Bounty double rolls costs $20.98.

While the Bounty paper towels are of higher quality, they do cost a bit more, also.

Do Great Value Paper Towels Fall Apart?

Generally, Great Value paper towels are rated pretty high by consumers. Most users report they’re thin and rough but strong.

If you typically have messes that need a bit more scrubbing to clean up, you should opt for the Ultra Strong version.

They won’t tear as easily, allowing you to scrub away stuck-on food and other messes.

Who Makes the Best Paper Towels?

In consumer product testing, Brawny and Bounty are ranked highest for strength. Brawny edges Bounty out slightly in the absorbency category, though.

The third spot goes to Viva. They’re not nearly as strong but they’re as absorbent as Bounty paper towels.

The Great Value Ultra Strong paper towels are in the middle of the pack in terms of both strength and absorbency.

If you tested for value based on pricing, Great Value would rank highly. The paper towels are priced lower than all the alternatives.

An Advantageous Relationship for Consumers

Walmart and Procter & Gamble have been working together for a long time. About five years ago, though, there was trouble in paradise.

Procter & Gamble took issue with some moves Walmart made to put other brands of similar products to P&G’s on the shelves right next to them.

Luckily, the two giants were able to smooth over their tensions because it’s better for consumers that they stay in business together.

This partnership makes it so you can purchase quality products for the prices you’re comfortable with. You get better choices due to their relationship.

The Bottom Line

Procter & Gamble makes Great Value paper towels in its facilities for Walmart.

They are sold on the same shelves in all of Walmart‘s stores.

If you’re looking for good-quality paper towels for a budget-friendly price, Great Value is just that.
