Where Are Casper Mattresses Made

Lindsey, do you know where Casper mattresses are made? This is one of the questions our readers ask a lot. Well, we´ve got you covered.

There are a lot of different mattress companies out there these days, especially those that produce and ship to a lot of different places.

If you’ve heard of Casper before then you are probably wondering: where are Casper mattresses made? Originally, most of Casper’s mattresses were manufactured in the United States, particularly at plants in Georgia and Pennsylvania. Over the years, however, they have mentioned other manufacturing locations as well, including the United Kingdom, India, Germany, Belgium, China, and Canada.

Read ahead to discover all about Casper’s mattresses and how and where they might actually be made.

What Is Casper?

Before we get into where and how their mattresses might be made, we should take a look at what the company is and what they are all about.

Casper Sleep is an eCommerce brand that mainly sells its products online, although they have opened a few retail locations more recently as well. The company started life in April 2014 through crowdfunding efforts and significant investments.

They even had a number of well-known celebrities on board to get the company off the ground, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Levine.

They have become a big name in the mattress industry, particularly as one of the first companies that deliver mattresses to your door in a small, convenient box.

They are also very proud of the research and development that goes into creating innovative and well-designed mattresses for both comfort and support.

Where Are Casper Mattresses Made?

The question of where Casper mattresses are made is a little bit complicated. They have made varying statements in the past about the kind of manufacturing locations that are used, and things have changed recently with developments the company has undergone post-COVID-19.

Most companies will utilize a variety of different plants and facilities around the world for different stages of product development and construction, and these can change over time depending on market factors.

This is particularly true for a company like Casper, which predominately operates an online business and ships the majority of its products directly to people’s homes.

Casper uses materials and product elements from a variety of different countries, but their mattresses are all designed in California. Historically, the majority of their mattress manufacturing has been carried out in American plants in places like Georgia, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.

For example, the company disclosed in the past that they used three different foam suppliers for their Wave mattress – to create the five different foam layers involved. The top layer was made in Georgia, the latex layer was made in Belgium, two other layers were made in Canada, and another was made in Indiana.

At the end of the day, however, they still state that all of their mattresses are designed in California, and they now trade almost exclusively in North America.

How Are Casper Mattresses Made?

Casper mattresses are all layered from different materials, but the individual options are actually constructed quite differently.

One of the main innovations that set Casper mattresses apart is the zoned support that they offer, which is designed to provide different amounts of sink and firmness where you need it the most.

They also use a technology that they call “Airscape”, which includes many perforations in the upper layers to allow heat to transfer more easily and increase cooling for hot sleepers.

The most popular options at Casper include:

  • The Original. A durable foam base with a padded zoned support layer on top, and an Airscape layer above that.
  • The Original Hybrid. Contains springs inside on the base, as well as a double-layered top support.
  • The Nova Hybrid. As well as the spring and foam combination, the Nova has 2 layers of perforated Airscape foam and more zoned support.
  •  The Wave Hybrid. This much more complex construction includes 3 full layers of perforated foam, a thin coating of cooling gel, and gel pods within the layers of zoned support.

With so many different elements to each mattress, it’s no wonder that manufacturing is a relatively complicated process.

In fact, a lot of the different layers for each mattress are actually made in different locations.

Do Casper Ship Mattresses to Europe?

One of the more recent developments at Casper is the fact that they ceased operations in Europe in 2021. Although they were still relatively popular in the region, the company stated that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic led them to focus on their profitability and success in North America instead.

This will undoubtedly have had an impact on where they are constructing their mattresses today, as they had previously worked with manufacturing plants in the United Kingdom for their UK sales.

They have not released an official statement on where all of their mattresses are currently being made, but they are now only operating in the United States and Canada.

Where Do Casper’s Competitors Make Their Mattresses?

Although they are a big and well-known brand, Casper is far from the only name in the mattress game right now.

Among their many competitors, you will find:

  • Purple Innovation. These mattresses are made with a unique grid technology, and they are all designed and manufactured in the USA.
  • Helix Sleep. Another very large e-Commerce brand, Helix states that every one of their mattresses is handmade and custom-built in the United States.
  • Luuna. These mattresses are also manufactured and sourced exclusively in the United States.
  • Simba. A big name in the European market, Simba mattresses are designed and made in the UK.
  • Emma. Another big European brand, Emma mattresses are designed and manufactured in Germany.

What is quite interesting about the Casper brand is how vague they have been over the years about the exact location where they do their manufacturing.

While most of their competitors will proudly state where their products are made, Casper is a little unclear on the subject in general.

Are Casper Mattresses High Quality?

No matter where they might have been made, we can still take a look at just how good Casper mattresses really are.

All of their options are actually pretty highly rated by consumers, and they certainly contain some innovative and effective technology in their construction.

They offer a good balance of firmness and softness, and their zoned support layers are particularly effective for reducing back pain and discomfort throughout the night.

If you opt for one of their more complex models, you can really see that a lot of thought and care has gone into making them as effective as possible.

They are also very well-rated for people who get particularly hot throughout the night, as they offer good airflow and can help you to feel a lot cooler than some other options.

One of the main benefits of buying a Casper mattress is its convenient in-the-box delivery service. It will arrive at your door in a very neat little package, and you have 100 nights to try it out to see if it’s exactly what you are after.

Summary

So, where are Casper mattresses made? Well, the answer is perhaps more complicated than you might think.

They have used a number of different locations over the years and have never been fully clear about where exactly all of their manufacturing takes place.

For example, some of the different layers for some of their mattresses have come from plants in places like China, Belgium, and Canada.

With that being said, they are all designed in California and the majority of their construction does seem to happen in the United States.
