Does Target Sell Car Batteries? (Price, Quality + More)

Does Target Sell Car Batteries

Do you know if Target sells car batteries? Well, you are at the perfect place to find the answer to such a question.

Target is the best place to go for everything from groceries to clothes to office supplies to automotive needs. While they have a wide range of inventory, do they carry absolutely everything like car batteries for instance?

As of now, Target does not sell automotive batteries although they do carry car battery accessories as well as toy battery powered cars. It is unknown whether or not car batteries will be available for purchase from Target in the future.

In this article, we will review what automotive battery accessories Target sells as well as which of Target’s competitors do sell car batteries.

Additionally, you will learn why Target doesn’t sell car batteries and if Target has a warranty on the car battery accessories it sells.

Does Target Sell Car Battery Accessories?

Even though Target doesn’t sell car batteries, they do sell car battery accessories among other automotive products.

You can find inverter boxes, jumper cables, and extra external batteries to jumpstart your car when your battery dies at Target.

Target also carries a range of products for electric cars including charging cables, conversion plugs, and wall mounted charging stations. Since most physical Target stores do not have a large automotive section, many of these items are only available for purchase online through Target’s website.

Some of the electric vehicle accessories are sold through Target by one of Target’s partner companies. However, even these products are still eligible for free shipping and a 5% discount when you purchase with a Target Red Card.

Along with accessories to support your car’s battery, Target also sells other electronics for your car, products to help with your car’s maintenance and cleaning, as well as accessories for the interior and exterior of your car to enhance your driving experience.

Whether you need a car charging cable for your phone, jumper cables in case of an emergency, or an automotive first aid kit Target has got you covered.

You may have to go elsewhere for a battery, but everything else you can find at Target.

What Target Competitors Sell Car Batteries?

Although Target doesn’t sell car batteries, some of Target’s biggest competitors do. Big box stores like Walmart have car batteries in stock as well as popular online stores like Amazon.

These retailers provide a range of brands and models of batteries for virtually any car. They also carry a lot of the battery accessories that Target does.

While not a direct competitor, auto parts stores like Advance Auto Parts and NAPA also have a wide selection of car batteries. These stores are also likely to provide battery check and installation services as well.

Auto parts stores tend to be stocked with everything your car needs, but a lot of times Target will carry the same items at a cheaper price.

You may need to go to one of these other stores to get your actual car battery, but that doesn’t mean you need to spend more at these retailers for things accessories your battery might need like jumper cables and an inverter.

Save yourself time and money by shopping around because Target might just offer a better deal on the automotive parts that they do have in stock.

Why Doesn’t Target Sell Car Batteries?

Target’s mission is to provide low prices on quality products for its customers. Unfortunately, Target is not able to acquire good car batteries at an affordable price that they can then turn around to sell at a decent price for their customers.

Instead of stocking high priced car batteries, Target has chosen not to carry them at all.

Even if Target wanted to sell car batteries, there is a supply issue with sourcing good batteries. Auto parts stores and other retailers that provide additional automotive services get first dibs on the car batteries, so places like Target may be left with the lower quality batteries or nothing at all.

Since Target doesn’t offer services such as battery installation and check or even oil changes and tire rotations, it doesn’t make much sense for the store to carry batteries.

Although Target does carry some automotive parts and accessories, that is one of the smallest departments.

The bulk of Target’s focus is on other areas such as clothing, kitchen needs, toiletries, and food.

Does Target Have a Warranty on Its Car Battery Accessories?

Some of the car battery accessories that Target sells are expensive, especially the chargers and wall mounts for electric cars.

Although individual products may not have specific warranties, Target does offer an electronics protection plan for most electronic items which may include some of their automotive accessories.

By partnering with Allstate, Target can provide protection plans for most of their electronics which include technical support, quick turnaround repair service, free shipping to the repair shop, worldwide coverage, and online claims service.

The protection plans vary in price depending on the price of the purchased electronic.

For most of the electric vehicle battery charging accessories which typically cost around $200 to $300, the protection plans are around $20 to $40.

While this isn’t a warranty that comes automatically with the car battery accessories, it is an option for you to purchase so that you can have guaranteed protection for these products.

Most of the plans cover your electronics for two years.

Conclusion

Even though Target has an automotive department, they do not sell car batteries. Target does not have the capability to purchase quality car batteries and then resell them for a reasonable price to their customers.

Additionally, they do not offer services such as battery checks or installations.

However, Target can cover almost all your other automotive needs including battery support such as jumper cables, inverters, and even charging stations for electric cars.

Some of these items can even be purchased with a protection plan.

If you need a car battery, Walmart or Amazon may be the best place to go but save the rest of your automotive accessory shopping for Target.
