What Are Visa Gift Cards?

Visa gift cards can be purchased either online or in a retail store. Visa gift cards are a prepaid card loaded with a certain amount of funds.

They can be used for multiple purchases as long as funds are on the card, but similar to other gift cards further funds cannot be added to the card once the initial amount runs out.

Does Etsy Accept Visa Gift Cards?

No, Visa gift cards are not on the list of payments that Etsy sellers will accept. Different sellers will accept different payment methods, but most will accept the major payment types.

Although most retailers that accept Visa credit cards will accept Visa gift cards, and Etsy does accept Visa credit cards, Etsy does not claim to accept Visa gift cards.

This may be because Visa gift cards are only accepted by U.S retailers and cannot be used internationally in the way a credit card can.

If you are attempting to purchase from an international Etsy seller located outside of the U.S, this could explain why Visa gift cards are not an accepted form of payment by that seller.

How Do You Use Visa Gift Cards?

To use a Visa gift card online it must be registered and activated.

If the card was purchased at a retail store it should have been activated at checkout at the time of purchase.

If it was bought online then it likely needs to be activated before it is used for a purchase.

The card can be activated by visiting the website and entering the 16-digit card number and the security code printed on the back of the card.

The card can be registered in a similar way, by visiting the website and entering the card number. You will also need to enter your name, address, and phone number.

This personal information is needed as Visa gift cards are processed the same way as Visa credit cards.

To use a Visa gift card instore, use it in the same way as a Visa credit card and present it to the cashier at checkout. To use a Visa gift card online, enter the card number into the credit card field rather than the gift card field.

You must only use the card for purchases that are the same amount or less than what is loaded onto the card.
