Does Costco Install Car Batteries For Free? (Try This!)

Does Costco Install Car Batteries For Free

Do you know if Costco installs car batteries for free? Well, you are at the perfect place to find the answer to such a question.

Costco is one of the leading providers of cheap car batteries in the US. A lot of people pick up a Costco membership just to buy their batteries.

So, what happens when you have your hands on the battery? Will Costco install the battery for you? Will they do it for free?

No. Costco does not install car batteries at all, free or otherwise. No Costco store has the facilities to install the batteries for you. So, while it may be cheap to buy your batteries from there, you will have to go elsewhere to get them installed.

Let’s go into a bit of depth on this, shall we? We are positive that you are itching to know more about battery installation.

Does Costco Install Car Batteries For Free?

No. Costco will not install car batteries for you. This means that you will neither receive free installation nor will you be able to pay for the battery installation service. It is just not a service that they offer at all.

Part of the reason why they do not install car batteries is to help to ensure that their prices are as competitive as possible. If they did offer a facility where car batteries could be installed, then the prices would have to go up considerably.

Considering the prices of car batteries at Costco are a good $15-$20 cheaper than their competitors, we are positive that this isn’t something that they really want to be doing.

Where Can You Get Car Batteries Installed?

In an ideal world, you would install the car batteries yourself. We promise you, the process isn’t too difficult. We are fairly confident that there are countless YouTube videos out there that you can watch.

These will guide you through the process of getting your car batteries installed in your specific model. It is something that should only take a couple of minutes and, assuming the vehicle is turned off, it isn’t dangerous in the slightest. It is always worth knowing how to change your own car batteries.

If you do not feel like installing the car battery yourself, then the easiest option is to head to either Walmart or one of the various major mechanics.

While these companies do tend to prefer that you purchase the car battery from them, the cost of getting it installed shouldn’t be too high if you didn’t.

Remember, if you are purchasing a car battery for an RV, boat, or something else (which Costco also provides), then you may need to think a bit harder about where you get that battery installed. Walmart, for instance, may not be able to install the battery on your boat.

Is It Worth Buying Car Batteries From Costco?

If you have a Costco membership, then we see no reason why you wouldn’t want to purchase car batteries from there.

Obviously, Costco is not going to be able to install that battery for you. For some people, this is going to be a major downside. However, you will be saving a lot of cash on the battery, which means that you should be able to have a bit of cash leftover that you will be able to use to get the battery installed elsewhere.

One of the main perks of purchasing car batteries from Costco is the fact that the range of batteries is significantly higher than some of the other companies out there.

This means that you may be able to pick up a car battery (or a battery for another vehicle), which you wouldn’t easily be able to find elsewhere, at least for a competitive price.

It is worth pointing out that Costco batteries are their own brand batteries. However, this doesn’t mean that they are bad batteries. In most cases, they are just relabeled batteries from some of the bigger manufacturers out there.

This means that they are going to last just as long. All of the Costco batteries come with a 2-year warranty too, so if anything does go wrong with that battery, Costco will happily swap it over for a brand new one for you.

This is a service that we have heard many people use, and they all have nothing but praise for it.

As we said, we probably wouldn’t go out of the way to purchase a Costco membership purely with the intention of buying car batteries from Costco.

It is a little bit too expensive. Although, of course, by all means, you should get a membership for the other deals that you are going to be picking up from Costco. Remember, they are going to sell a whole lot more car accessories than just batteries.

Although, once again, they will not be able to install them for you.

Final Word

While Costco does sell car batteries, they will not install them for you. Although, this isn’t something that should put you off purchasing from Costco.

Their car battery prices are competitive enough that it is worth picking them up from the store and having them installed elsewhere.

If you are going to get your batteries installed elsewhere, then we recommend somewhere like Walmart or one of the larger mechanic stores (e.g. Oreilly Auto).

They tend to have fast battery installation, and the price is still going to be worth it, even when you have purchased the batteries from elsewhere.
