Metropolitan-Nash
The Metropolitan was produced by the carmaker Nash between 1954 and 1962. It is famous for being one of the smallest vehicles produced at the time. Some even consider it a “sub-compact” car.
The car was only 13 feet long. Many considered it a car for a mother to drive to the grocery store, as there was just enough room inside for a driver and a few grocery bags.
The Metropolitan was a quick little car that handled well. It had a low center of gravity and could go between 70 and 80 miles per hour. It could go from 0-60 in just 22.4 seconds, which was exceptional for the time.
You can still find Nash Metropolitans around today, as the company produced around 95,000 of this model.

Monica
The Monica is a rare automobile produced by Jean Tastevin. Only 30 to 40 Monicas were ever built. The car was manufactured between 1971 and 1975. Jean Tastevin chose to name the car after his wife, Monique.
The car was produced in three different colors. All of the instruments in the vehicle were custom-made under the name Monica.
Because so few of the cars were actually built, you will be very lucky to ever find one.
Mustang-Ford
The Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic classic cars in America. Ford started producing the Mustang in 1965 and still makes the vehicle today. The company premiered the 1965 Ford Mustang at the 1964 Worlds Fair. It was a sensation.
In August of 1965, Ford adjusted the design of the car. Some refer to the Mustangs produced before this as 1964 ½ Mustangs.
The Ford Mustang is available in several different body types. You can find Mustangs as fastbacks, notchbacks, and convertibles.
The accessibility and versatility of the Mustang made it a hugely popular vehicle. People loved it for racing on the weekends, going to church, and picking up groceries. With such a wide market, the first Mustangs vastly exceeded Ford’s projections.
Throughout the 1960s, the Mustang progressively grew in length, width, and weight. Then, in 1974, the designs started shrinking and becoming more compact.
The 1980s brought aero-themed designs that did not closely resemble the original Mustangs.
In the 1990s, Ford decided to return the Mustang to its roots and bring back something closer to the earlier models, but with updated engines.
Despite decades and many design changes, the Mustang remains one of the most iconic American cars on the road today. It is widely recognizable by its sleek, strong, muscular design.
Maybach
Maybach is a car company that now exists as part of the Mercedes-Benz company. The company was started in the early 20th century.
Their peak was between 1920 and 1945. The Maybach family started by building engines for zeppelins, but then expanded to cars.
During World War II, Maybach produced engines for tanks and vehicles for the Nazi army. The end of World War II marked a long pause in Maybach´s production of cars.
In the 1960s Daimler-Benz purchased Maybach and the company was gradually added to the Mercedes-Benz family.
In 2014-2015, Mercedes-Benz revived Maybach as a sub-division of their company. Some cars today are made with the Maybach name. These cars tend to be luxury options from Mercedes-Benz.
Monterey-Mercury
Do not be mistaken, the Mercury Monterey is a classic car. Some confuse the classic car with the minivan of the same name produced from 2004 to 2007.
The original Mercury Monterey was a full-sized car of the class produced from 1952 to 1974.
From 1952 to 1955, the Monterey was Mercury’s top vehicle. The station wagon-like design appealed to families, but it still maintained a classic look that satisfied businessmen.
Throughout the two decades that the Monterey was produced it underwent several redesigns. These redesigns sought to increase the appeal of the car while adding safety features and aspects that made it better to drive.
In 1975, the Grand Marquis surpassed the Monterey as Mercury’s “prized” car, and the Monterey was no longer produced.
Midget-MG
The MG Midget was a popular sports car from 1961 to 1980. MG (Morris Garages) is a well-known British car company.
The Midget was designed to be an affordable sports car. It featured an engine that could really pack a punch for a car named for its diminutive size (though the name is not politically correct).
The MG Midget was a sporty, small car that was meant for fun and adventure. It featured a convertible design that made it popular in sunny regions of the world.
The MG Midget was always inexpensive, so you will likely still be able to find MG Midgets on the road that have been re-built and re-worked throughout the years.
MG is more popular in the United Kingdom than in the United States, and MG cars have not widely been sold in the United States for decades, so if you want to find an MG Midget, you will likely need to cross the pond.
Marquette-Buick
The Marquette was originally produced by GM in 1912. However, it was introduced as the more widely-known Buick in 1929.
The Marquette was designed to be a lower-priced model of a Buick, which was important during the Great Depression.
Many other car companies adopted a similar strategy during this time, including Pontiac and Cadillac.
GM was famous for its Marques, and the name Marquette is a diminutive of this name.
The first Marquette was nicknamed the “Baby Buick,” and it was famous for its herringbone radiator grille. It could drive up to 70 miles per hour, which was decent for the day.
In total, the company built around 35,000 Marquettes, so you may still find one today that has been re-built.
