If you purchase a large home appliance from Currys, such as a washing machine, you may want to know about their warranty policy beforehand for peace of mind when making such a large investment. 

If you purchase a washing machine from Currys, they offer a 30 day replacement or refund program if it is faulty, incorrect or damaged. After 30 days, most washing machines will also have a 12-month manufacturer warranty covering repairs. If it’s been longer than one year and the applicance develops an issue, there are options for repair, either by paying out of pocket or using Currys’ Care & Repair Plan.

What is Currys warranty policy for a washing machine?  

It depends on the reason why you want a replacement of the washing machine. If it is faulty, incorrect, or damaged, you have a few options for either replacement, refund, or repair depending on the time frame.

If you’ve simply changed your mind about the purchase, Currys offers returns and refunds within 14-21 days, depending on if you made your purchase online or in-store.

How to replace a washing machine at Currys:

Currys will offer exchanges or refunds on large items if they are found to be faulty, incorrect, or damaged. If over a year has passed, Currys offers a Care & Repair Plan that can cover repairs.

Currys considers large items to be appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, fridges, freezers, ovens, and televisions larger than 43 inches. 

Replacing a washing machine within 30 days after purchase: If the appliance is faulty, you have 30 days after purchase or delivery to arrange for exchange or refund.

Replacing a washing machine between 30 days and one year of purchase: After 30 days, most washing machines will still be covered under a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty and can be repaired free of charge if faulty.

The manufacturer’s 1-year warranty will not cover washing machines that have been damaged in an accident, neglected, misused, or normal wear and tear.

If you have the Currys’ Care & Repair Service Plan, simply call 0344 561 1234 for assistance. The Care & Repair plan acts like an extended warranty and covers repairs for faulty items. It will not cover accidental or cosmetic damage. 

If you do not have a Care & Repair Plan, Currys offers a repair service that covers laundry, dishwashers, ovens, fridges, freezers, TVs, computers and mobile phones.

General pricing and assistance for repairs are listed on their website. Repairs are guaranteed for 12 months after the repair date and can be completed in-home. 

Replacing a damage washing machine:

If the washing machine you receive is damaged upon delivery or incorrect, Currys asks that you contact them via Webchat and they will arrange for collection and replacement. 

What is the Care & Repair plan?

The Currys’ Care & Repair plan is a repair plan and extended warranty package that you pay for as an add-on to your washing machine purchase.

You can purchase the plan in installments or pay in full when you purchase your appliance. Currys offers several perks to the Care & Repair plan to make it a desirable option in addition to the manufacturer’s 1-year warranty. 

Under the Care & Repair plan,

  • They guarantee that if it takes longer than 7 days to repair a product, you can ask for a replacement.
  • If they are unable to repair the item you can get a voucher for a new one.
  • If it still has a problem after repairing it twice you can get a voucher for a replacement.

Do I Need the Currys Care & Repair plan?

The Care & Repair plan is an additional cost to purchasing a washing machine, and some people may be unwilling to pay extra for a warranty program when there is already a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

However, other people may prefer the peace-of-mind that comes with knowing you can get quick repairs and get a replacement easily if the repair doesn’t solve the problem. 

You can buy 2, 3, or 5 year Care & Repair plans, or set up a monthly plan using direct debit. Prices for plans vary depending on the price of the washing machine, the length of the manufacturer’s warranty, and the length of the Care & Repair plan you wish to purchase.

The least expensive plan costs £24/year and the most expensive plan costs £250/year.
